Hands down, Daniella Uy is the most successful professional golfer in the country right now.
She dominated the just concluded ICTSI Ladies Philippine Golf Tour, taking the crowns in Forest Hills, Del Monte and in the season-ending Mimosa.
Plain to see that the 26-year-old is becoming too big a fish in the small pond. It’s only fair the 26-year-old aspires for a bigger playing area.
“I’m focusing now on my campaign in Asia,” Uy told the Daily Tribune’s Golf Plus.
But she will be needing much more than talent to take that enormous battlefield. Basically, she needs cash.
“My name is Daniella Uy. I’m a professional golfer from the Philippines. I play on the Ladies Philippine Golf Tour. I am raising money for my golf campaign in Asia,” Uy wrote on her GoGetFunding.com drive.
“The funds will be used for my tournament fees and travel expenses. Your help will definitely contribute to my professional golf career. Any amount of help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.”
It hasn’t picked up yet since it began in July. Thankfully, she’s got LPGT earnings.
Uy started golf at eight years old, introduced by her father. They hail from Antipolo, hence Valley Golf is their home course.
An outstanding junior golfer throughout her young career, Uy highlighted that era with a victory in Junior World Golf Championship Girls 15-19 category in 2014.
Uy then finished a degree at the California State University-Fullerton in 2018.
“I admire Tiger Woods and the long-hitters in the LPGA and PGA,” said Uy who described her LPGT triple-crown as “morale-booster” when she starts campaigning in Japan.
There she will be joining contemporary Princess Superal, a fellow jungolf champion.
It’s a long way from the lucrative LPGA/Epson Tour where the likes of Bianca Pagdanganan and Dottie Ardina are currently playing.
But Uy is taking one step at a time. Now if somebody could give her a hand.
