Jonathan Medina delivered a game-winning shot for Jose Rizal University as it escaped Lyceum of the Philippines University with an 88-87 double overtime win in the NCAA Season 99 men’s basketball tournament at the Filoil EcoOil Centre Tuesday evening.

Medina, who had six points in the entire game, attacked the basket with eight seconds left in double overtime, giving the Heavy Bombers a slim one-point lead.

Pirates John Barba and JM Bravo couldn’t penetrate the suffocating defense of JRU in the final seconds of the match as the Bombers picked up their fifth win in eight games.

Joshua Guiab led JRU with 18 points while Agem Miranda and Marwin Dionisio scattered 14 points each.

Enoch Valdez’s double-double effort of 24 points and 11 rebounds was in vain as he was fouled out in the fourth quarter with 59 seconds remaining.

In the first game, San Beda escaped the Univeristy of Perpetual Help System Dalta, 62-60.
