Veteran Filipino campaigner Juvic Pagunsan sizzled with an eight-under-par 64 on Friday to share the lead in the Mynavi ABC Championship at ABC Golf Club in Ibaraki, Japan.

The 45-year-old Pagunsan finished the halfway point with a 13-under par total of 131, tying with Japanese Mikumu Horikawa who matched his output with a 64 on the second day.

Pagunsan is hoping to duplicate his feat in the Golf Partner Pro-Am last May where he bagged the champion’s purse worth 12 million yen or P4.4 million.

But this Japan Tour meet poses double the challenge for Pagunsan because it offers double the cash prize.

Fellow Filipino Justin Delos Santos is tied for 34th following an even-par 72 for a 141 total.

First-round leader Keita Nakajima fired a 69 to slide a shot behind, sharing third spot with compatriot Taihei Saito.

Saito carded a 67 for 12-under total of 132.

South Africa’s Shaun Norris is solo fifth placer after a sensational 11-under-par 61 for a 133 total.
