JGFP taps Bacolod City’s rich golf resource

SOCIAL MEDIA

The Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines is expanding its reach to the talent-rich Bacolod City as it intensifies its grassroots development program.

The junior golf governing body in the country has already touched base with young players from Davao City, Cagayan de Oro, Bukidnon, Cebu City, Angeles City, Baguio City, Cavite, Batangas and Tagaytay City.

It is the fulfillment of the JGFP, through its president Oliver Gan, to tap the provinces and make sure of a steady flow of talent going into the elite level.

Already, its efforts are paying off as three of the four Filipinos who helped bag titles in the Singha Thailand Junior World Championship are from its programs, namely Bobe Salahog of Negros Occidental, Jacob Cajita of Cebu City and Alethea Gaccion of Cagayan de Oro.

The JGFP board is expected to fly to Bacolod City to formally launch its program in three of its courses in partnership with sportsman Pyke Braga.

“We are merely reviving what we started before,” Braga said.

He has made communications with officials of the Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club, Bacolod City Golf Club and Victorias Golf Club.
