For the first time in its 26-year history, the Chery Group’s monthly sales breached the 200,000 mark when it recorded 200,313 vehicle sales in October this year, a 50.8 percent year-on-year increase.
For the past four months, the Chery Group has consistently achieved new monthly sales milestones after hitting over 150,000 in July, 170,000 in August, and 190,000 in September. With these record sales, the company was able to accumulate a total of 1,453,550 vehicles sold from January to October, representing a year-on-year growth surge of 41.6 percent
The Chery Group’s sales success in October can be attributed to its best-performing models like the Tiggo 8, Tiggo 7, Tiggo 5x, which collectively increased the company’s sales.
“The market definitely appreciated the Chery Group’s adherence to independent research and development,” said Froilan Dytianquin, the managing director of Chery Auto Philippines.
“The company has built five R&D centers worldwide, with an R&D team of more than 7,000 experts, many of whom are senior designers and engineers who have served world-class automobile enterprises. Guided by the development concept of ‘Establishing the Enterprise Based on Technology,’ Chery has exported its products to global markets, including the Philippines.”
Chery Auto Philippines is set to introduce a range of hybrid and electric vehicle models in the coming months. During the Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit held at the SMX Convention Center in October, the brand gave a preview of its plug-in hybrid vehicle and two of its fully-electric vehicles.
The Tiggo 7 Pro Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle is powered by a 1.5-liter turbo engine assisted by two electric motors and also comes with a 19.27 kWh lithium-ion battery pack (a combined system output of 322 horsepower and 545 Nm of torque).
It also features a complete Advanced Driver Assistance System that incorporates collision avoidance technologies and driving aids such as night vision, driver alertness, and adaptive cruise control; dual 12.3-inch screens with Apple Carplay and Android Auto; power front seats with four-way lumbar support and memory function for the driver’s seat; and heated and ventilated front seats.
The first of two fully-electric vehicles shown at the summit is called the eQ1 micro full EV car that can run up to 280 kilometers on one full charge. The full-aluminum car can accommodate four passengers comfortably, is equipped with four-wheel disc brakes, ABS with EBD, and an Autohold function, among other safety features.
The other model is the much bigger eQ7, which is a fully electric compact SUV with a driving range of more than 500 km. It can accommodate five passengers and has an ultralow wind drag coefficient of 0.31. This “wind-cheating design” is further enhanced by an active grill system that intelligently closes or opens to maximize aerodynamics.
“Chery Auto is hard at work on strengthening its global advocacy to promote green mobility through technological innovation. We are excited as Chery Auto gradually beefs up its vehicle lineup to provide more options for Filipino buyers and at the same time prepare them for full electric mobility,” said Dytianquin.
