Driving through the city’s congested streets can be a challenge for anyone. But something as simple as driving a compact vehicle can reduce the stress of sitting in traffic or while looking for an available parking slot. For city dwellers, choosing a compact ride makes sense since these are also affordable and fuel efficient.
“Because of the huge problem of traffic in the city of Baguio, we acknowledge that one of the major solutions is to encourage our residents to use compact cars, so Suzuki’s arrival here is a welcome news,” said Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong as he welcomed the opening of Suzuki Auto Baguio located at No. 5 Marcos Highway in Sto. Tomas Proper.
The mayor is very optimistic that Suzuki would contribute significantly to the advancement of Baguio City’s transport sector, adding that Baguio residents would benefit greatly from Suzuki’s compact vehicles, in line with the city’s vision for sustainable and efficient urban mobility.
“When I learned of Suzuki’s latest offerings, I immediately planned for a possible collaboration where Suzuki’s Hybrid models could be utilized for public transportation. A critical component in Baguio City’s Smart Mobility project is the modernization of its public transport system,” he added.
Among the models presented at the inauguration include Suzuki’s popular models like the S-Presso and Ertiga Hybrid.
The Japanese brand’s presence in Baguio was made possible by the recent collaboration of Suzuki Philippines with Highfleet Motors Corp., which is headed by its president, Wilson Angheng.
“This partnership with Highfleet Motors is a testament to our commitment to provide quality vehicles to the vibrant community of Baguio. We are excited to bring Suzuki’s innovative and compact models to this picturesque city,” said Norihide Takei, director and GM for the Automobile Division of Suzuki Philippines Inc.

During the event, Kenneth So, corporate secretary of Highfleet Motors, expounded on the impact of Suzuki’s compact vehicles in light of Baguio City’s Smart Mobility project. “With the implementation of Baguio City’s Smart Mobility project, we anticipate a shift in our market automobile preferences. Compact cars will become the preferred choice, not only in Baguio’s central district but in its residential areas as well.”
