The U Series of Poker is set to hold its season finale in Danang, Vietnam starting Friday, 17 November, with all signs pointing to another blockbuster event at the Furama Resort.
Since the brand’s inception into the live scene earlier this year, USOP has consistently produced massive turnouts, and all signs point to the same for the finale.
The first USOP live event was held at the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club) in Taipei City, Taiwan. Held from February 10 to 19 early this year, USOP Taiwan amassed a modest NT$ 48,718,400 (~$1,6065,700) festival prize pool. With an affordable Main Event buy-in of NT$ 20,000 (~$660), it hauled in a record 1,043 entries, the largest international field brought together in Taiwan then.
Two months after the brand’s launch into the live scene, USOP held its second live festival in Hanoi, Vietnam. Games ran from April 14 to 24 at the city’s largest poker room, the Crown Poker Club.
Once again, the crowd poured in and the numbers swelled for a richer festival prize pool of VN₫ 56,967,420,000 (~US$ 2,426,700). The Main Event, with a higher buy in of VN₫ 22,000,000 (~US$ 930), pulled in 851 entries, generating a prize pool of VN₫ 16,509,400,000 (~US$ 702,680). The High Roller roster also saw an increase from 4 to 5 events.
After a lengthy four-month break, USOP returned to Hanoi for another 11-day festival at CPC. Running from September 1 to 11, it produced the richest festival prize pool ever seen in Hanoi of VN₫ 104,438,509,000 (~USD 4,312,900).
Other new records were:
Main Event – the Main Event buy in was upped again to VN₫ 25,000,000 (~USD 1,057). With a record 1,336 turning up, it generated a prize pool of VN₫ 29,158,200,000 (~USD 1,212,000), the richest Hanoi Main Event to date.
Superstar Challenge — the VN₫ 120,000,000 (~USD 5,074) buy-in Superstar Challenge also produced a record holder of 94 entries for a prize pool of VN₫ 10,212,100,000 (~USD 424,000).
The USOP Hanoi schedule had grown from 28 events to 39 events. The High Roller roster saw a boost from 5 to 7 events, and several new ones were introduced including the Heads Up Challenge.
With each USOP festival increasing in prize pool and popularity, the season finale is expected to go through the roof.
Running from November 17 to 27, USOP Danang features a head turning VN₫ 50 Billion (~$2 million) guarantee. With the brand’s last festival paying out over double that amount, players can expect an even richer event at hand.
