A new leader of the Philippine Football Federation will emerge as the national sports association will hold its election today.
Stallion Laguna FC president Filbert Alquiros, PFF executive committee member Engr. Henry Sabate and former Pachanga Diliman FC owner John Anthony Guttierez are vying for the top post as they aim to fill in the position that will be vacated by Mariano “Nonong” Araneta, who will step down after 13 years of service.
Three vice presidents will be elected with Azkals team manager Dan Palami vying for one of the spots against Jay Adriatico, Frael Aquino, Ismael Batiles, Lawrence Fortun and Rodney Orale while a female member will be elected with PFF head of women’s football Isabella Fernando-dela Cruz vying for the position against Sherilyn Sinsuat and Lovely Tababa.
Four members each from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao out of 15 candidates will be elected for the PFF executive committee.
Araneta left a big mark on Philippine football as his leadership saw the Azkals make their debut in the Asian Football Confederation Asian Cup in 2019 and the Filipinas in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
