Ian Sangalang’s performance in Magnolia’s 104-91 victory over Terrafirma is an indication that he is ready for another title run in the Philippine Basketball Association.

The 6-foot-8 Sangalang pumped in 18 points and nine rebounds in what was easily his finest game since recovering from hypothyroidism.

Sangalang’s near double-double performance against the Dyip proves that he is ready to resume his old role as the Hotshots’ go-to-guy at the post.

“I just want to be back, help out my team and play,” said Sangalang, whose inspired performance powered the Hotshots to eight wins in their first nine matches.

“I just want to return with a positive mindset.”

“No pressure for me as I want to play whatever the role or minutes that will be given to by Coach Chito (Victolero). Hopefully, this kind of performance will continue as I try to get my confidence back in time for the playoffs.”

Sangalang has been considered as among the elite big men in the league until injuries and sickness derailed his improvement.

In his return, Sangalang gets a lot of help from the vastly-improving James Laput and hardworking Abu Tratter that somehow eased up the load on his shoulders.

“Before, I was so exhausted working double time on both ends of the floor,” Sangalang said.

“Now, I’m getting a lot of help. Coach Chito was able to preserve me and I was able to perform whenever he needs me.”

He added that, Laput and Tratter play key roles as the Hotshots prepare for the next step, which is making the playoffs.
