Morie Rylan Pabalan made a huge splash for Pasig City after pocketing two gold medals in the 16-17 breaststroke events in the 2023 Batang Pinoy that came to a close at the Teofilo Yldefonso Swimming Pool inside the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex recently.
Pabalan, a Grade 11 student from La Salle Green Hills, clocked 30.64 seconds to capture the gold in the boys’ 50-meter category. He also clocked one minute and 7.66 seconds to rule the 100-meter category to complete his back-to-back triumph.
The 16-year-old Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics student joined hands with Arvin Taguinota II, who plucked three gold medals, as the Pasigueños dominated the swimming competition of this prestigious event that aims to discover future members of the national squad.
Aside from the Batang Pinoy, Pabalan also came from a successful campaign in Season 99 National Collegiate Athletic Association juniors swimming competition after helping the Greenies clinch their third straight crown and 21st overall title.
Pabalan also placed 13th in the boys 14 to 15 years old category in the 44th SEA Age Group Swimming Championships 2022 in Kuala Lumpur.
All in all, Pasig City wrapped up its Batang Pinoy campaign with 57 gold, 56 silver and 74 bronze medals behind Baguio City, which secured 82 gold, 52 silver, and 59 bronze medals.
On the other hand, the Pasigueños ruled the 2023 Philippine National Games after collecting 42 gold, 39 silver and 47 bronze medals.
