NLEX activated Kent Salado to boost its backcourt rotation entering the crucial stretch of the eliminations of the Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup.
Road Warriors board governor Ronald Dulatre made the confirmation to Daily Tribune, saying that the court general will be joining Robert Bolick and Matt Nieto in the backcourt when they face also-run Converge in a very crucial game on 10 January.
NLEX is desperately needing a win to keep its flickering playoffs hopes alive.
The Road Warriors are coming off a 104-97 victory over Blackwater last 22 December and they are trying to build a winning run with Bolick as top playmaker and scorer.
Against the Bossing, Bolick flirted with a triple-double performance of 30 points, 15 assists and eight rebounds.
“We’re making our last push. Robert is part of our plan and that’s why we’re going to need his help in securing a possible playoff seat,” NLEX coach Frankie Lim said.
A 5-foot-10 guard from Arellano University, Salado joined the Road Warriors in a trade package that also landed them Bolick from NorthPort.
Dulatre said Salado is expected to take over the spot left by Hesed Gabo, whom they have already released.
The six-foot Gabo joined the Road Warriors last season when Frankie Lim took over the coaching chores from Yeng Guiao.
Gabo will be joining his former team, Nueva Ecija, which is competing in the Pilipinas Super League.
