Alethea Page Gaccion imposed her might to claim the Junior Golf Federation of the Philippines Mindanao Pueblo Open on Thursday.
The 16-year-old Gaccion started her year with a victory right at her home course, the Pueblo de Oro Golf and Country Club in Cagayan de Oro.
It was the second phase of the JGFP Mindanao swing which started the previous week at the Apo Golf and Country Club in Davao City.
Gaccion stamped her class in the Girls 13-18 World Amateur Golf Ranking division after totalling 213 over the past three days, besting Kiara Montebon by one stroke.
Nicole Gan (223), Isabella Tabanas (230) and Crista Miñoza (233) finished in the top five of the division.
Aldrien Gialon captured the Boys’ 13-18 WAGR after a three-day total of 211.
Rounding up the top five in the Boys’ 13-18 WAGR division are Clement Ordeneza (219), Cliff Nuneza (221) and Simon Wahing and Nino Villasencio who are tied for fourth with 222s.
Kiara Montebon captured the Girls’ 15-18, while Gialon took care of the Boys’ side.
Gan, who earned a spot to the FCG Callaway Junior World following her win in Davao City the previous week, topped the Girls’ 13-14.
Also winning their respective age categories were Clement Ordeneza who took the Boys’ 13-14 over Geoffrey Tan via playoff; Ken Guillermo (Boys’ 11-12); Iza Racines (Girls’ 11-12); Franco Qiu (Boys 9-10); Rafaella Batican (Girls’ 9-10);
Jaime Barnes (Boys’ 7-8); Abby Qiu (Girls’ 7-8); Inigo Espina (Boys’ 6-under); Sistine Yun (Girls’ 6-under); and Rolando Bregente (Special Division 19-21).
“Our programs have encompassed Mindanao which has proven time and again to be a hotbed for golf talent,” JGFP president Oliver Gan said.
“We would like to thank those who supported us during the past two weeks including Jonathan Suy, president of the Apo Golf and Country Club and Prim Nolido, president of Pueblo de Oro, and JGFP Mindanao directors Gil Blas Velez and Ronald Canlas.”
