The country’s top professional golfers once again get to test their mettle playing with promising amateurs when the 2024 Professional Golfers Association of the Philippines Pro-Am Championship kicks off 30 to 31 January at the Intramuros Golf Club.
The likes of Antonio Lascuna, Jhonnel Ababa and Dino Villanueva are expected to see action alongside actor Kier Legaspi and amateur stalwart Edison Tabalin. More than 50 teams are to show their wares in the P500,000 meet.
Top five pro women and top 30 pro men, including those campaigning abroad, are bunched in the top 30 teams who must partner with an amateur with handicap of six or higher.
Entry fee is P10,000 including green fee and meals during the awarding ceremony. Deadline for registration is 25 January.
Format is Scramble for Day 1 and Alternate Shots for Day 2.
“This is our kick off event for the year, we are expecting a big number of participants including PGAP members,” PGAP president Jhonel Bulawit said.
Among those who captured Pro-Am titles last year are Ricar Candinato and Edison Tabalin during the June edition held at Eagle Ridge; Alfredo Repato and Jonar Austria in July in Forest Hills; James Ryan Lam and Jet Mathay in August in Caliraya; and Romeo San Jose and Ricardo Mise also in August in Zamboanga.
