Rianne Malixi got stumped by the double bogey to limp home with a five-over-par 78 on Wednesday entering moving day in the Australian Amateur Golf Championship in Victoria.
The 16-year-old Filipina, who fired a three-under 70 in the opening round, also suffered five more bogeys during the round to go with her two birdies at Yarra Yarra Golf Club.
That put her in a tie for 11th place with almost half of the field yet to finish because of unplayable green at both Yarra Yarra and the Keysborough Golf Club.
Malixi, tied for second at the start of the day, double bogeyed the Par 3 11th and then gave up shots in 1, 7, 8, 10 and 12. She managed to score on the sixth and 13th.
Just last week, Malixi came from behind to capture the Master of Amateurs in Melbourne, boosting her chances for back-to-back title.
And just like last week, she is in for a big fight down the stretch.
As it is, Malixi is just down six shots from the leader with her two-under 148.
Taking the clubhouse lead is home-course bet Amelia Harris who carded a 72 for a two-day total of four-under 142.
Japanese Aina Fujimoto is also four under with nine holes to play in the second round. She had a 69 on the first day.
