Adamson University waged a recruiting coup when it landed Filipino-American stalwarts Cade and Austin Ronzone for Season 87 of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines men’s basketball tournament.
The Falcons made the announcement, saying that the Ronzone twins will bolster their roster in a bid to advance to the Final Four following the departure of star playmaker Jerom Lastimosa.
Sons of Terry Ronzone, the renowned international agent of Kai Sotto who had front office roles with the Detroit Pistons, Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves, and Filipina Liwayway Ledesma, the twins were welcomed in the Adamson campus by Fr. Daniel Franklin Pilario, CM, head coach Nash Racela and Lastimosa.
“The Ronzone twins, who are eligible for UAAP Season 87, are expected to bolster the Soaring Falcons’ guard rotation and bring their experience from the US NCAA Division I,” the school said in a statement.
Cade is expected to fill the void created by Lastimosa’s departure while Austin is an off-guard. Both of them stand at 6-foot-2 and made a good impression when they teamed up with another Fil-Am Remy Martin in powering the Arizona State University in the March Madness of the previous NCAA season.
They also had a chance to play against another Fil-Am Jalen Green in high school.
The Ronzone twins will join an Adamson team that fell short of making the Final Four in Season 86.
The Falcons were on their way to the semifinals when they finished with seven wins in 14 matches but they lost to Ateneo de Manila University in the playoffs for the fourth and last Final Four spot.
