Young team Nxled hopes to see a better showing after getting its feet wet in its Premier Volleyball League debut last year.
Gearing up for the All-Filipino Conference set to start on 20 February, the Chameleons set their sights on surpassing their four wins in the previous tournament.
“We’re still trying to learn as much as we can despite being a new team. And now, joining a new conference, we’re still very eager to win as many games as we can,” team captain Dani Ravena said.
“Of course, our goal is to improve and raise the level of our game.”
Nxled, sister team of Akari, joined the league late in the 2023 season. The Chameleons debuted in the 2nd All-Filipino Conference along with Galeries Tower.
Despite parading a young crew under Japanese coach Taka Minowa, Nxled displayed great potential after winning over other expansion squads Gerflor, Galeries Tower and Farm Fresh, and even pulled off an upset over Akari.
The Chameleons finished in the ninth spot in the 12-team field tied with the disbanded veteran-laden F2 Logistics.
Nxled shored up its roster in the offseason after signing towering versatile hitter Ivy Lacsina and Jaila Atienza from F2 Logistics.
Lacsina, a 6-foot-2 star who could play in the middle and wing positions, is a great addition to the squad as she will bring both ceiling and firepower.
Better equipped than the last time, Ravena believes the Chameleons would be able to climb a notch higher.
“Our realistic goal (for this conference) is at least a Top 5. We came up short in our goal last conference to reach the Top 6,” the libero said.
