Baser Amer is set to reunite with long-time coach Frankie Lim, who is presiding over NLEX’s team-building in Laguna.
Though the player has yet to formally join the squad, his agent Danny Espiritu said it is just a matter of time before the stocky but shifty guard becomes an official member of Lim’s Road Warriors.
“They’re still in team building. Probably, once they return, then the formal signing comes next,” Espiritu told DAILY TRIBUNE.
Amer was released by Blackwater, which just recently made room for the inclusion of two-time Most Valuable Player James Yap on its roster.
Yap signed a one-year deal after being released by Rain or Shine.
Over at NLEX, Amer’s inclusion might be the answer to the team’s woes.
Amer and Lim won multiple titles together at San Beda University and their reunion should give NLEX what it badly needs in the backcourt what with all-star guard Kevin Alas recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Alas tore his ACL for the third time in his career last conference and his absence was clearly felt by the Road Warriors, who just got eliminated early in the import-laden Commissioner’s Cup.
