An overland trip is an immersive experience where one meets interesting people and places while learning valuable lessons and life skills.
It’s a fusion of off-roading, team camaraderie, and nature appreciation. But first, one has to have a capable vehicle to be able to enjoy all these, and Isuzu Philippines Corp. showed us why its vehicles are the right ones for the job.
Isuzu took the spotlight at this year’s Overland Kings CampOut held from 9 to 11 February at Crystal Beach in Zambales, bringing in its overlanding-ready units of the new D-Max pickup trucks and mu-X SUVs.
“This is the kind of lifestyle we want to promote to our customers — enjoying their vehicle in weekend activities like overlanding, and spending time with family and friends. We are very happy to be able to join this event and spend time with the overlanding community,” said IPC president Tetsuya Fujita.
Drawing in more than 100 outdoor enthusiasts, the event underscored the blossoming culture of overlanding in the country. It was also an opportunity for IPC to show the capabilities of its two models, powered by a 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine capable of producing 187 hp and 450 Nm maximum torque.
The overlanding-ready units of the new D-Max pickup trucks and mu-X SUVs were fully equipped with essential camping accessories like awning, roof tents, drawers, and showers which all provided a blend of comfort and adventure.
The Overland Kings CampOut was organized by the group of Joel Pedro who offered an immersive experience into the world of overlanding. The three-day event was packed with activities designed to foster community spirit among participants and provide a platform for learning and exchange.
The event allowed novice participants as well as seasoned practitioners to learn new things through sponsor displays and experts who shared 4×4 driving techniques and tips on overlanding basics.
Another highlight of the event was the night gathering wherein Sarsa dished out its best offerings. There was also acoustic entertainment as well as a fireworks display in celebration of the Chinese New Year. This festive culmination not only added to the event’s charm but also underscored the communal spirit that overlanding promotes.
The success of the Overland Kings CampOut in Zambales with IPC’s active participation marks a significant milestone in promoting the overlanding culture in the Philippines. It showcases the potential of overlanding and Isuzu vehicles in bringing people together, encouraging them to explore the great outdoors while fostering a sense of community.
