When it comes to a car as highly regarded as the Ford Next-Gen Territory Titanium X, nothing can be said about it that hasn’t been said before.
Almost like the lyrics of the Beatles’ 1967 stand-alone hit: “Nothing you can say, but you can learn how to play the game. It’s easy…”
All you need is ride.
Whether you’re rolling with snail-paced traffic in Edsa or breezing through the Skyway off-hours it is an unchanging factor. It’s swift, smooth and satisfying.
Under the hood of the Territory is an EcoBoost 1.5L engine that is capable of up to 248 newton-meter of torque and power of up to 160 horsepower.
It glides through Metro Manila’s typical slalom-type hazards, providing enough acceleration and response. The better to get by the potholes and street re-blocking; or lane-hogging tricycle and e-trikes; or loading and unloading jeepneys and taxis.
All the stresses of daily city-driving, the Territory Titanium X makes it all bearable.
Through a lot of its features.
One of them is the user-friendly console, topped by a rotary knob gear shifter. It allows seamless transmission in getting in and out of parking. A much smaller knob below allows you to change the volume of its solid sound system.
It has powerful air-conditioning system with push-button functions. Back-up camera. Moon-roof.
That alone makes the Territory Titanium X worth its retail price which starts at P1.599 million. Now Ford even offers P13,000 low monthly fee or P99,000 all-in low-down payment.
Customers can also visit any Ford dealership to get more information on the available five-year scheduled service plan with a Territory purchase.
Launched last year, it steadily gathers renown among young drivers and small families because of its standout design, premium interiors, efficient performance, and improved driving experience.
“The Ford Territory was built for young and connected individuals and starting families,” said Mike Breen, managing director, Ford Philippines.
“Filipino customers will find that its combination of modern design and advanced features deliver on the day-to-day driving conditions they will encounter on our roads.”
It has BLIS with Cross-Traffic Alert which includes enhanced blind spot-monitoring–offering another pair of technological eyes when performing a lane change or merging on the highway.
Meaning, if a fast-moving car enters the Territory’s blind spot zone for example, BLIS will alert the driver via a small light in the side mirror together with audible sound as a caution before switching lanes.
Also among the features of the Titanium X is Adaptive Cruise Control with a Stop-and-Go Feature. It lets drivers set a cruising speed for the Territory to follow while maintaining a set distance from the vehicle ahead.
Should the car in front decide to suddenly stop the Territory will come to a full stop if needed.
Another safety feature — which you never wanted to get to avail — is the Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking.
It uses both the wide-view windshield-mounted camera and radar located near the front bumper to scan the road ahead for potential collisions.
If an imminent collision is detected, the system emits an audible and visual warning. If the driver doesn’t respond in time, the AEB system activates automatically.
Some more attributes I get to enjoy are Auto High Beam which activates the high beam function of the Territory’s headlights when it detects the vehicle being in dimly lit roads; Tire Pressure Monitoring System; and Dual Zone Electronic Automatic Temperature Control that adjusts to keep passengers comfortable.
The Territory is also equipped with a particulate matter 2.5 air cabin filter, an extra layer of protection for both driver and passengers against dust and allergens–always ensuring high air quality in the cabin.
Customers purchasing the Territory will receive a complimentary Peace of Mind service package that includes free inspection which can be availed within 2 months or 2,000 kilometers, whichever comes first and two free labor on periodic maintenance schedule services.
