6 p.m. — Criss Cross vs RichMarc Sports
Criss Cross aims to keep rolling as it shoots for its third win when it battles RichMarc Sports 3B today at the Paco Arena in Manila.
Game time is at 6 p.m. with the King Crunchers determined to post their third win to gain a share of lead with idle Cignal in this prestigious men’s club tourney.
The King Crunchers have been on a roll as they have yet to lose a single set in the early stretch of the tournament.
They opened the season with a 25-12, 25-22, 25-11 win over Maverick Hard Hitters before posting a 25-18, 25-17, 25-17 triumph over fellow newcomer VNS-Nasty last Friday at the Ynares Sports Center.
The King Crunchers started slow but caught fire in the second set, erecting a huge 12-4 lead to dictate the tempo and coast to their second win that came on the day of setter Ish Polvorosa’s birthday.
But Polvorosa, a former Ateneo de Manila University star, said they are not yet looking at the bigger picture.
“To avoid overconfidence, for this game, we simply took it one point at a time. In general, we’re approaching it one game at a time because we’re a new team, but we’re not new to each other. However, Coach Tai Bundit’s system is new to us,” Polvorosa, who had 19 excellent sets, said.
Jude Garcia led Criss Cross in scoring with 11 points, six of which came from blocks, while also tallying nine receptions and six digs to underscore the King Crunchers depth and firepower.
Ysay Marasigan contributed nine points, Kim Malabunga added eight, and Jaron Requinton finished with seven points in just two sets of play, giving them high expectations when they face the struggling RichMarc Sports 3B.
