Kaya FC-Iloilo dealt Persib Bandung Putri of Indonesia an 8-0 beating to capture the SingaCup Women’s Football Championship crown Friday night at the German European School Field in Singapore.
Shai del Campo produced a hat trick while Nica Siy, Dionesa Tolentin, Bhebe Lemoran, Anicka Castañeda and Maye Medaño scored a goal apiece as the women’s club won its first 11-a-side title.
This is also the team’s first international trophy since being established in 2019.
Del Campo was also awarded the Golden Boot award after scoring six goals in the tournament.
Kaya had to prove itself against three other clubs in Southeast Asia to stand on top as it finished with three wins, no losses for nine points with a +16 goal difference.
Bannered by Filipinas mainstays Del Campo, Castañeda, Inna Palacios and Hali Long, Kaya came into the meet oozing with confidence.
It didn’t take long for Kaya to get started with its winning ways.
First, it took down defending Singapore Women’s Premier League champion Lion City Sailors FC Women’s Team, 3-1, last Monday.
The Filipino women’s club went on to demolish Phranakorn Football Club Women of Thailand, 6-0, last Wednesday and completed the sweep with an 8-0 drubbing over the winless Indonesian club.
Kaya first defeated the local team and defending Singapore Women’s Premier League champion Lion City Sailors FC Women’s Team, 3-1, last Monday before blanking Phranakorn FC Women’s, 6-0, two days later.
