Pauloxpert lauds Bren Esports

Bren Esports Mobile Legends coach Jian Paulo “Pauloxpert” Munsayac praised his players for giving their all in the Mobile Legends Professional League Philippines Season 10 Playoffs that ended recently.

Bren Esports, composed of a reshuffled roster bannered by team captain Angelo Kyle “Pheww” Arcangel, silenced its doubters when it eliminated Omega Esports in the opening match of the Season 10 Playoffs.

Pauloxpert said beating a powerhouse team like Omega Esports is already a major victory.

“I am satisfied (with how we performed) because this team had so many doubters. There were those who said that we would lose in the first round because we were matched against Omega Esports,” Pauloxpert told Daily Tribune in an interview.

“Nobody thought we would go that far or give these teams a very good fight. Although deep inside, we wanted more because we really had great performances in our scrimms.”

With the win, Bren Esports earned a slot in the upper bracket where it met eventual champion Blacklist International, which they came close to beating with a 2-3 score.

The defeat sent Bren crashing to the lower bracket where they played against the then defending MPL Season 9 champion RSG PH, which they also came close to beating with a 2-3 score.

In the end, the team’s efforts were simply not enough to take them further in the tournament, ultimately ending their run at the top 4 after failing to qualify in the Playoffs for the past two seasons.

With rookies in its roster such as young jungler Kyle “KyleTzy” Sayson and roamer Rowgien “Owgwen” Unigo, Pauloxpert conceded that pressure got the better of the team in the series-deciding games of their matchups.

“Since it is the rookie season for the others, there were jitters and pressure, especially against the defending champion RSG PH,” Pauloxpert said.

“Perhaps we need to improve our mental fortitude because the players were pressured and it affected their play. Hopefully, we get to fix that next season.”

Pauloxpert noted that Bren Esports only rested a few days before they got back on their grind to prepare for the upcoming online tournament Mobile Legends Professional League Invitational which is set to take place from 2 to 6 November.

“We have to widen our hero pool so whatever play style it is that we have to play we can play and execute properly,” Pauloxpert stressed.

“From the looks of it, I do not think there’s any plan of changing the roster because we have kind players. They are really easy to coach and they handle criticisms really well. We will be preparing for MPLI we will try to redeem ourselves there.”
