GENERAL SANTOS CITY — The boxing program that launched the Hall of Fame career of Manny Pacquiao returns on television early next year.
Blow-by-Blow, now being revived by the boxing legend, will stage its first show on 20 November in Mandaluyong City where Pacquiao fought seven times.
Headlined by former amateur standout Criztian Pitt Laurente, the initial episode will air in January 2023 with One Sports and the City of Mandaluyong joining hands with two-time world champion Gerry Peñalosa.
Pacquiao is presiding over Blow-by-Blow’s relaunch which he intends to discover the next boxing hero.
“I hope we can produce a new champion by bringing back Blow-by-Blow,” Pacquiao said during Saturday’s press conference at the Grand Summit Hotel.
“Let’s give a chance to the young fighters,” Pacquiao added.
Abalos, who has been one of Pacquiao’s earliest supporters, swears the Filipino ring icon was destined for greatness.
“I already knew he would go far because of his focus and his dedication,” Abalos said, stressing that he is going all-out in support of the weekly show.
“It comes at an auspicious time, if not critical time for Philippine boxing. The industry is trying to bounce back,” said Games and Amusements Board officer-in-charge Emmar Benitez.
Also attending the grand launch was Von Gaa of Cignal, the outfit that will do the telecast of the program that Pacquiao will eventually put up world title fights.
