The 72nd Fil-Am Invitational golf team championships have drawn 77 foreign teams in the regular and senior divisions, making up nearly one-third of the field.
Teams from the United States, Australia, South Korea, Japan, Guam, Hawaii and Canada are entered in the two-week spectacle to be held at the Baguio Country Club and Camp John Hay Golf Club.
There will be 45 teams in the seniors’ division set for 26 November to 1 December.
Among those in the field are Batang Hollywood, Caliphil-Hawaii, Fairgolf Club of Sydney, Fil-Am Japan, Guam Kool Swingers, Vancouver Golf Club, Korea Morning Calm and Melbourne Team.
Entered in the regular bracket are Central Florida VST, Fil-Am Chicago, Filgolfers of Honolulu, Vancouver Horizon Golf Association, Yokosan and Pacific Rim, among others.
Action in the regular division starts on 6 December.
Manila Southwoods is the defending champion in the regular and senior divisions.
Organizers, led by BCC general manager Anthony de Leon and CJH GM Jude Eustaquio, are leaving no stone unturned to make the tournament a huge success.
A total of 240 teams have signed up, making the Fil-Am the biggest tournament this year with more than 1,300 participants.
The two-week event is held in partnership with Baguio Country Club, Camp John Hay Golf Club, The Manor, The Forest Lodge and Le Chef.
The event presenters are 3K Rock Engineering and Construction Corp., Toyota, Boysen and Columbia Sportswear.
The major sponsors are Palm Grove, Britanny Corp. and Asiatraders Corp. while minor sponsors are Time Cargo Logistics, Lola Nena’s, K&G, Rudy Project, JTEN Sports Inc., Januarius Holdings, Beer Below Zero and Tee Sports Gear.
