Barangay Ginebra buckled down to work on 27 November, crushing NorthPort, 122-105, and setting its sights on a top two berth in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Philsports Arena.
Jamie Malonzo, the Gin Kings’ newest member, delivered an auspicious performance in his first game against his former team.
Traded to Ginebra just this conference, Malonzo unloaded 26 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the field while also blocking five shots.
Import Justin Brownlee led the Gin Kings rampage with a 31-point output and a near triple-double performance. The two-time Best Import also pulled down 13 rebounds and dished out nine assists.
The Gin Kings, already assured of a playoff berth, are looking to close out the elimination round with a victory over Converge on 30 November, and hoping that Magnolia loses to Rain or Shine to secure the No. 2 slot.
Ginebra now carries an 8-3 win-loss record, the same card being held by Converge, but a full game behind Magnolia.
