Gialon conquers JGFP Davao tourney

Aldrien Gialon fired a closing three-over-par 75 to capture the premier boys’ 15-18 age-group division in the 2023 JGFP Davao Championships at the Apo Golf and Country Club in Davao City Sunday.

Gialon, the 16-year-old younger brother of touring pro Zanieboy, finished 36 holes on 5-over 149 for a four-shot victory over Apo stablemates Rolly Wacan and Rex Zaragosa.

Wacan shot a 73 while Zaragosa carded a 77.

In the girls’ 15-18, Althea Paige Gaccion edged Velinda Castil via countback to pocket the crown. Gaccion and Castil tied for first place on 157 after an 83 and 82, respectively.

Cody John Langamin bagged the boys’ 13-14 with a two-day total of 158 following a closing 77. Kristoffer Nadales came in second on 163 after an 81 while Alexis Gabriel Nailga settled for third on 169 after an 86.

In the girls’ 13-14, Zero Plete posted a runaway victory with 163 despite an 87. Julienne Mabale turned in a 107 for 215 and second spot while Annika Pasion took third on 258 following a 122.
The 19-21 special division was topped by Alexander Bisera on 149 following a 74 followed by Glen Lascuna on 162 after an 83.

The tournament, which served as part of JGFP’s grassroots program, was backed by Gaisano Malls, John Gaisano, Dimdi Furniture and Appliance Centre, Soleil Cafe, and Islandwide Distribution Corporation.
