Celebrity Gerald Anderson again proved that he is more than just a pretty face as he powered KalosPH to another big win in the Ballout Hoops Season 2 Founder’s Cup late Tuesday at the Marikina Sports Center in Marikina City.
Anderson finished with 20 points, three assists and a steal to lift KalosPH to a thrilling 88-82 victory over Philippine Navy Go-for-Gold.
Anderson, a seasoned Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League campaigner, took the centerstage anew, but the scoring honors belonged to his teammate, Genmar Bragais, who pumped in 28 points, eight rebounds, four assists and five steals.
With Anderson and Bragais doing damage, KalosPh coasted to its second straight win to gain a share of lead with Marikina Shoelanders, who defeated University of Makati, 99-78, in the second game.
Felipe Chavez shone for the Shoelanders, torching the opposition with 22 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field but failed to finish the game as he suffered a bloodied nose halfway into the final quarter.
But the rest of Marikina were able to fill up the void with Kyle Tolentino, Ralph Robin, Deo Timajo and Jason Opiso emerging with double figures.
Tolentino, who played for Letran College, came away with 19 points and four steals, Robin had 12, Timajo chipped in 11 and Opiso contributed 10 markers to underscore the Shoelanders balanced attack.
Also emerging victorious was AMA University, which tallied a 102-82 triumph over Game Changer Novaliches.
