Baltazar in hot water

Justin Baltazar is in trouble after failing to arrive in South Korea to play for the Seoul Samsung Thunders in the Korean Basketball League.

In an article by Korean basketball website Jumpball, it stressed that the former De La Salle University forward failed to meet the deadline for player registration after missing his flight to the Korean capital the previous day.

Baltazar, who also saw action for Gilas Pilipinas, is still in the thick of his campaign with the Strong Group Realty in the 32nd Dubai International Basketball Championship.

The website said the Thunders are classifying the move as breach of contract and they are planning to elevate the matter before the KBL Finance Committee.

Samsung coach Eun Hee Seok stressed that he is disappointed with the development as it might lead to injuries should he decide to plug their gaping hole at the middle.

“I tried to use the quota system ambitiously, but it failed,” Eun Hee Seok said.

“It is more disappointing because it was a big man resource. I am worried that injuries will come out elsewhere while trying to compensate for that part.”

The 6-foot-8 Baltazar is the third Filipino to be recruited by the Thunders after Will Navarro and Filipino-Canadian Christian David.
