Filipino woodpushers bow to Poland

The Philippines finally lost to powerhouse Poland, 2.5-1,5 in the fourth round of the first FIDE Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities by beating host country Serbia, 3.5-0.5 in Belgrade.

ASEAN Para Games gold medalist and FIDE Master Sander Severino settled for a draw with Marcin Tazbir in Board 1 while national master Darry Bernardo beat Piotr Dukaczewski in Board 4.

Arena Grandmaster NM Henry Lopez and head coach and player IA James Infiesto both suffered defeats against Marcin Molenda and Pawel Piekielny, respectively, in Boards 2 and 3.

Poland leads after Round 4 followed by India.

The Philippines is third followed by Israel.

The Filipinos and the Israeli are set to clash in Round 5.
