The Philippine National Esports team or better known as Sibol will be represented by young and veteran players in the Mobile Legends category of the 2023 Southeast Asian Games which is scheduled to run from 5 to 17 May in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
The Philippines, the defending two-time SEA Games gold medalist, was previously bannered by Blacklist International players. This time around, the squad will be mostly composed of Bren Esports players spearheaded by coach Francis “Duckey” Glindro.
“Heto ang mga pinaka-nagpakita ng kanilang husay at galing sa nakaraang SIBOL Combine upang ipaglaban ang bansa sa SEA GAMES 2023! Good luck mga idol!” Sibol announced earlier today on Facebook.
Leading the charge of national athletes is M2 Mobile Legends world champion and Bren Esports team captain Angelo Kyle “Pheww” Arcangel, MPL S10 rookie of the season Kyle “KyleTzy” Sayson, Rowgien “Owgwen” Unigo, Marco “SUPER MARCO” Requitano, David “FlapTzy” Canon, and ONIC PH’s Nowee “Ryota” Cabailo.
Unlike the previous tryouts, the coach of the winning team of the qualifier was allowed to pick and form the best roster out of the top 4 teams in the combine. After the lengthy process, Sibol and Bren Esports coach Duckey ultimately came up with 5 players from his own team in the six-man roster.
The teams and players from the combine were Bren Esports, M4 world champion ECHO, ONIC PH, and Gamelab.
