F2 Logistics is on a roll to start its campaign in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.
While head coach Regine Diego has the luxury of having a deep arsenal of weapons on offense, the Cargo Movers’ biggest advantage against their rivals comes in a pint-sized package.
Libero Dawn Macandili once again stands tall as a cornerstone of F2 Logistics’ early success behind her consistent defensive effort that translated to back-to-back wins for her club.
The five-foot defensive specialist not only serves as the Cargo Movers’ go-to-woman on floor defense and a catalyst in their transition to offense but also a vocal leader inside the court that keeps the team together.
“Dawn is always very, very reliable. She’s the glue that binds this team. So I’m happy that Dawn is playing for my team, and I’m very lucky to have her,” rookie mentor Diego said of her prized veteran.
With her eyes fixed on helping F2 Logistics redeem itself from a forgettable first season in the PVL last year, the 26-year-old former national team standout has been producing impressive numbers.
“Of course, in every game, our mindset is to give our best, and how to quickly adjust in all situations,” Macandili said.
The former Most Valuable Player of the defunct Philippine Superliga is averaging 6.13 digs per set and has a 41.18 percent efficiency in reception putting her in the top five of both categories.
Macandili had 35 digs and 10 excellent receptions in the Cargo Movers’ five-set escape over PLDT to begin their run.
She followed it up with 14 digs and 13 excellent receptions as F2 Logistics swept Akari last Saturday.
The Cargo Movers are tied at the top of the standings with defending champion Creamline and Chery Tiggo at press time.
“I’m very excited about this team. We had a lot of changes for the better. And, I’m very excited about growing with them and as I said we’re gonna get there,” Macandili said.
Diego lauded Macandili not only for her hard work but her willingness to learn and further her development as a volleyball player.
“There are still more things that I want her to do because she still has a lot to learn. She said she is happy to learn more,” Diego said.
“She’s very steady and I could trust her anytime.”
