Patrick Bacay waxed hot, hitting eight three-pointers to power Antipolo to an 89-77 victory over Philippine Navy in the Cocogen Ballout Season 2 Founder’s Cup recently at the Marikina Sports Center.
The trigger-happy Bacay finished with 24 points — all from the rainbow territory — to help the Cashew Nuts tame the Sealions and snap their three-game losing streak.
With that, Antipolo collected its second win in nine games but still remains in the cellar of the provincial division of this tournament headed by coaching legend Jipa with Chris Bautista as president and chief executive officer and Ronald Magtulis as operations head.
Meanwhile, M7-RPBY completed the night of upsets by pulling off a thrilling 89-87 victory over NCR division leader Marikia.
Johnsherick Estrada emerged with a double-double performance of 21 points, 11 rebounds and six assists while Mac Sevilla and Joseph Penaredondo combined for 21 points for M7-RPBY, which did a masterful job slowing down the production of star gunner Felipe Chavez.
Provincial leader Xentro Mall Rizal was also victorious, booking an 88-80 overtime victory over Game Changer Novaliches to get back on the winning track while AMA University rode on James Martinez’s triple-double performance to notch a 95-89 win over streaking One4BF, 95-89.
