Santa Rosa City overcame a three-point deficit late in the third set to complete a 25-22, 25-23, 25-23, sweep of Philippine Air Force yesterday in the Spikers’ Turf Open Conference at the Paco Arena in Manila.
Down, 20-23, in third frame, the youthful Lions fired five unanswered points capped by a sharp service winner by Jerrico Adajar to close out their third straight win in seven outings.
Uriel Mendoza led the Lions with 13 points — all off attacks. Adajar and Anrie Bakil added nine poinmts each for Santa Rosa City, which copped a straight sets victory for the first time after winning back-to-back five-setters.
Ruben Inaudito put the Airmen up, 23-20, in the third set on a kill block only to see the Lions rally with Mark Montemayor punching in a hit to put his team at match point.
Rodolfo Labrador finished with 15 points, Edwin Tolentino had 13 while Inaudito wound up with 10 but were not enough to save Air Force from nose diving to 1-6 card.
