Carlos Yulo and Juancho Miguel Besana booked a spot in the final of their respective apparatuses in the first leg of the FIG World Cup at the Lausitz Arena in Cottbus, Germany early Saturday.
After missing out on the final of the men’s floor exercise and the men’s rings, the two-time world champion topped the men’s parallel bars as he garnered 14.933 points.
Illia Kovtun of Ukraine placed second with 14.9 points while Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Ferhat Arıcan of Turkey came in third with 14.7.
Besana, one of the new talents being groomed for the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, qualified for the final in the men’s vault as he scored 14.433 points for fourth place.
Yulo, on the other hand, wasn’t able to get into another final in the first leg as he placed 12th in the vault with 14.083 points.
The final for both the men’s parallel bars and men’s vault is slated Sunday.
