CEBU CITY — Cebu Country Club led the tournament going into the final round but had to settle for the Founders division title at the close of the Philippine Airlines Senior Interclub golf team championships on Saturday.

The lack of depth told heavily on CCC whose top two players were saddled by poor starts.

Eric Deen went 12 holes without a birdie while making five bogeys and finished with 49 points while Kyu Ok On went 5-over in the first seven holes and ended up with 45 points.

The only bright spot was the 47 points of stopper Nelson Yuvallos.

CCC shot 141 points at Alta Vista Golf and Country Club to finish the tournament with 564 points, 34 points ahead of The Orchard which closed with 140.

CCC captain Carl Almario said their focus was on winning the Founders.

The Aviator crown went to Mimosa which totaled 471, edging SF Maharlika by three.

In the Sportswriter category, Club Filipino de Cebu posted a runaway 43-point victory over MSU Marawi Golf and Country Club.

Club Filipino de Cebu wound up with 457 points.

Malaysian Eagle Hunter captured the Friendship bracket with 408 points with Canphil taking second place with 381.

Paul Tan of SF Maharlika bagged the individual title in Flight A with 108 points, four points clear of Abe Rosal of Canlubang and Wan Soo Kim of Alabang.
