Lyceum of the Philippines University is on a roll as it picked up its third straight win following a 22-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-17 win over Jose Rizal University in Season 98 National Collegiate Athletic Association women’s volleyball tournament yesterday at the San Andres Sports Complex.
Joan Doguna carried the fight, firing 16 attacks and three aces to help the Lady Pirates forge a share of lead with defending champion College of Saint Benilde and University of Perpetual Help System Dalta with similar 3-0 win-loss records.
Lyceum head coach Cromwel Garcia told his wards to go back to their plays and have fun.
“Our goal was to get back into our system. After our game against San Sebastian, we relaxed a bit and had a short preparation. That’s why we started badly,” Garcia said.
“I told them that we should just go back to what we know and enjoy the game.”
Jaja Tulang had 17 points while NCAA Season 97 Best Setter Venice Puzon dished out 15 excellent sets for the Lady Pirates.
Mary May Ruiz was the only JRU player to reach double digits with 12 points as the Lady Bombers have yet to win a game after three attempts.
