Prince makes NorthPort return

SOCIAL MEDIA

NorthPort will be parading a familiar face when it competes in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner’s Cup next month.

Batang Pier head coach Pido Jarencio confirmed to Daily Tribune that they will bring back Prince Ibeh to serve as their import in a bid to win their first title in the midseason conference.

“Yes, we’ll go with Ibeh,” Jarencio said in a short message.

Ibeh seems like whom the doctor ordered for the Batang Pier.

The 6-foot-10 British-Rwandan slotman has the size, length, skills and athleticism to provide muscles at the paint, giving the Batang Pier a defensive boost following the departure of seven-footer Greg Slaughter last month.

He saw action in the Commissioner’s Cup last year in which he led the Batang Pier to one of their best finishes in the elimination round with a 9-2 win-loss record to clinch the second seed in the quarterfinals.

Unfortunately for NorthPort, it fell prey to a rock-solid San Miguel Beer squad in the Last Eight despite being armed with a twice-to-beat advantage.

Ibeh is said to be in perfect shape as he is coming off a stint with Club Trouville in Uruguay and New Taipei CTBC DEA in the Taiwan P.League last year.

In the PBA, he will bang bodies with fellow Uruguayan league veteran Quincy Miller of Converge as well as Cameron Krutwig of Blackwater, Johnny O’Bryant of Meralco and Lester Prosper of Terrafirma.
