Rookie Pauline del Rosario closed with two-under-par 70 Sunday to finish in a tie for 12th place in the Four Winds Invitational, her best finish so far in the Epson Tour.
Del Rosario completed 72 holes at the South Bend Country Club in Indiana on 4-under 212, just three shots off playoff winner Yan Liu of China.
The 23-year-old Filipina raced to 2-under after birdies on 2 and 5 inside nine feet but dropped a shot on the par-5 seventh hole.
After a birdie on 9, Del Rosario began her inward trip with a bogey and made seven straight pars before wrapping her tournament with a birdie after reaching the par-5 18th in two.
“I’m slowly learning to trust myself on the golf course again and trying to rebuild the confidence level through each event,” she said.
Dottie Ardina carded a 73 despite hitting all 14 fairways.
The 28-year-old tied for 21st on 213 after mixing three birdies with four bogeys.
She was 3-under through eight holes before picking up bogeys on 9, 12, and 7.
Clariss Guce, the other Filipina in the field, brought up the rear on 8-over after struggling with a 78.
She missed 10 greens in an up-and-down round that featured only five pars.
Yan, Kiira Riihijarvi, and Gabby Lernieux ended up tied for first place on 209 after shooting 74, 68, and 72, respectively.
But Yan won the playoff with a birdie on the first extra hole.
