Avaricio leads Phl Q-School entries

Six Filipinas, including a couple of amateurs, see action in the first stage of the Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour starting Thursday in three golf courses at the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage and Shadow Ridge Golf Club in Palm Desert, California.

Chanelle Avaricio, who leads the Ladies Professional Golf Tour Order of Merit back home, will play at Shadow Ridge along with fellow pros Abby Arevalo and Sunshine Baraquiel.

Avaricio will start at 7:20 a.m. in the company of Georgia Oboh and amateur Alexis Phadungmartvorak.

Arevalo, who competes in the Epson Tour, tees off at 8 a.m. alongside Korean Eun Jeong Seong and Daniela Recla.

Baraquiel will play in the back nine at 12:20 p.m. with amateur Angela Arora and Korean Sarang Shin.

Amateurs Lois Kaye Go and Samantha Bruce, and pro Daniella Uy see action at Shadow Ridge.

Go starts on the 10th hole at 7:20 a.m. with Madison Frerking and Tess Hackworthy.

Bruce will play with Alice Duan and Hannah Gregg at 11:10 a.m. while Uy joins the company of Heather Shake and amateur Claire Choi at 11:30 a.m.

The top 60 finishers will advance into the second stage slated 12-17 October at Plantation Golf and Country Club in the Village of Pinehurst, North Carolina.
