EJ Obiena settled for second place in the ISTAF Berlin Sunday evening after only managing 5.81 meters.

Obiena, who defeated world champion Mondo Duplantis of Sweden at the Brussels Diamond League, wasn’t able to set a new Asian record after failing all three of his attempts at 5.95m.

Menno Vloon of the Netherlands won the tournament with 5.88m while Kurtis Marschall of Australia got the bronze via countback at 5.81m.

Up next for Obiena is the Golden Fly Series in Liechtenstein on 11 September.
