Weary Pokimane wants breather

SOCIAL MEDIA

One of the world’s most popular streamers, Imane “Pokimane” Anys, is planning to limit her time on Twitch.

Pokimane, who has 9.2 million followers in the world’s largest live streaming platform, revealed that burnout has finally caught up with her after streaming for years.

“To be honest, I have been putting off talking about it especially because I wanted to make sure that if I do talk about this, I go about it in the right way, and I express myself properly,” she said in a vlog.

“For a long time, I just was not a hundred percent sure about what I felt. But my break has given me a lot of clarity so I figured, maybe it is time to kind of open that can of worms.”

She added that it’s now about time for her to take care of herself.

“Of course, for starters, all the classic reasons that people take breaks feeling burned down or tired of reading the same annoying comments,” the 26-year-old Moroccan-Canadian streamer said.

“I moved and did not realize for the first couple of weeks how much I have been putting off doing things I need to do to take care of myself. Legit like the basic human things I was not doing and I was very much putting on the back burner.”

In July, Pokimane went on social media to announce that she is taking time off from streaming to do a mental reset. The most followed female on Twitch, Pokimane used to spend her days streaming Fortnite, League of Legends, and Valorant.

But playing games while on camera eventually took a toll on her, citing that she needs to please her followers all the time.

“It has been a very very fun ride which I am really grateful for, but I do also recognize that putting myself out there so much, especially streaming. It revolves around this constant feedback loop of people telling you what they think of you,” Pokimane said.
