Don’t look now but newly-crowned World Boxing Association Asia featherweight champion Lienard Sarcon might end up bringing his wares to the United States next.

Sarcon beat erstwhile undefeated Jong Keon Kang via a unanimous decision last Sunday in Siheung City to bag the WBA Asia 126-lb belt.

“The fight contract we signed in Korea didn’t include an option for them to exercise,” Nonoy Neri, Sarcon’s chief trainer and manager, told Daily Tribune yesterday.

That means the unbeaten Sarcon will be free to fight whoever comes up with an attractive offer on the table.

Given Sarcon’s status as a free agent, a possibility looms that he eventually packs his bags and head to the United States.

“Sean (Gibbons) should know what to do,” said Neri, who is a vital member of eight-division Manny Pacquiao’s training team.

Gibbons heads MP Promotions, the ever-busy promotional outfit that regularly gives opportunities for Filipinos to fight in America and elsewhere.

In the meantime, Sarcon gets the chance to enjoy his victory and go on a brief break before easing back to training mode.

There’s simply nothing wrong with a little rest and recreation.

Besides, the young fellow deserves it.
