Chanelle Avaricio and Pauline del Rosario finished strong to improve their standings at the close of the BGC Thailand LPGA Masters at the Black Mountain Golf Club in Prachuap Khirl Khan, Thailand Friday.

Avaricio made four birdies against two bogeys to close with a second straight two-under-par 70 to tie for 17th place on 7-under.

Del Rosario, bouncing back from a 76, shot 68 to hike her total to 6-under, good for a share of 22nd.

“I’m trending in the right direction. I also saw some things that I can tighten up coming into the second stage of the LPGA Tour Q-School next month,” she said.

Asked what are these things, Del Rosario said course management and putting.

She is set to fly back to Manila where she’s working on her pro-athlete United States visa.

“This will allow me to stay in the US for five years without going home once every six months,” Del Rosario said.

Thai Patcharajutar Kongkraphan shot a blistering 65 to win the tournament by one shot over overnight leader Chonlada Chavanun who carded a 67.

Meanwhile, Juvic Pagunsan birdied two of the last five holes to salvage two-under par 69 and stay in contention in the 38th Shinhan Donghae Open at the Koma Country Club in Nara, Japan Friday.

The 44-year-old Filipino got off to a hot start, drilling in three birdies in the first six holes but stumbled with three bogeys in the next six holes.

He birdied 13 and 18 to improve his total to 8-under, just one shot off clubhouse leaders Tomohiro Kondo, Ryosuke Kinoshita and Doyeob Mun.

Kondo fired 67, Kinoshita shot 65 and Mun carded 66.

Overnight leader Richard Lee has yet to start his round. He shot a 63 in the first round.
