Bianca returns to action

After a quick trip to the country, Bianca Pagdanganan resumes her campaign in the Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour at The Ascendant LPGA Benefiting Volunteers of America Championship in The Colony, Texas Thursday.

The 24-year-old Filipina skipped the LPGA NW Arkansas Championship last week in Rogers, Arkansas to be with her mother Bing who celebrated her birthday at home.

During her brief stay, Pagdanganan linked up with her long-time coach Carito Villaroman to stay in shape.

Pagdanganan posted her best finish this year — 14th — at the Amazing Cre Portland Classic two weeks ago, shooting a career-best 9-under-par 63.

She’s 114 in the CME Rankings and needs to finish strong in her remaining events to keep her Tour card. The top 100 get to retain their cards.

Pagdanganan will tee off at 1:27 p.m. on the first hole alongside Sanna Nauutinen and Charlotte Thomas.

Also seeing action is Filipino-Japanese Yuka Saso who will start on the back nine at 8:26 a.m. with Caroline Masson and Brittany Altomare.

Saso was just one shot off the pace going into the final round of the Arkansas Championship before he faltered with a closing five-over-par 76 to settle for joint 32nd.

Meanwhile, four Filipinas see action in the Tuscaloosa Toyota Classic in Alabama on Friday.

Clariss Guce, fresh from back-to-back Top 5 finishes, will be joined by Dottie Ardina, Pauline del Rosario, and Abby Arevalo in the 54-hole, $200,000 event to be played at the Ol’ Colony golf course.
