Bright future awaits Knights

SOCIAL MEDIA

Repeating as champions for the third straight time will propel some of the Letran College players to bigger things, Converge big man Jeo Ambohot said.

Ambohot, the Season 97 National Collegiate Athletic Association Finals Most Valuable Player for the Knights, said a championship trophy would open up opportunities for his former teammates.

Watching the Knights demolish San Sebastian last Sunday, Ambohot insists Fran Yu, Brent Paraiso, Tommy Olivario and King Caralipio would surely be noticed by scouts.

“A lot of teams will be interested after they win a title. I’m hoping they win it,” said Ambohot, who won two NCAA titles.

“Making it to the PBA will also depend if they are willing to put the work into it.”

Ambohot was selected fifth overall by the FiberXers despite not attending the Philippine Basketball Association Rookie Draft last 15 May as their best-of-three championship series with Mapua University was still being played.

Yu agrees with his former teammate Ambohot, saying that has been the mindset Knights head coach Bonnie Tan has instilled on them.

With Letran currently at second place in the standings, Yu is confident the team has what it takes to pull off the elusive three-peat, something the school hasn’t done since 1984.
