SOCIAL MEDIA

Severe tropical storm “Paeng” knocked out the basketball and volleyball games that were scheduled to take place yesterday in various venues around Metro Manila and in the neighboring province of Laguna.

When the weather bureau placed the Metro Manila and several provinces under storm Signal No. 3, the Philippine Basketball Association and collegiate leagues University Athletic Association of the Philippines and National Collegiate Athletic Association as well as the Premier Volleyball League automatically called off their games.

The Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo was slated to host the PBA showdowns starring Meralco vs San Miguel at 4:30 p.m. and Rain or Shine vs Magnolia at 6:45 p.m.

The UAAP was supposed to hold a 2 p.m. clash between La Salle and University of Santo Tomas at 2 p.m. and Adamson and Ateneo at 4 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The NCAA, meanwhile, booked games featuring Emilio Aguinaldo and Arellano at noon at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.

The PVL also postponed the 2:30 p.m. game between Cignal and Choco Muhco and the 5:30 p.m. match involving F2 Logistics and Petro Gazz at the Sta. Rosa Sports Complex in Laguna.

If the weather improves, the UAAP and NCAA will resume games today.

Today’s UAAP schedule will pit University of the East and Far Eastern University at 2 p.m. and University of the Philippines and National University at 4 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Over at Filoil EcoOil Centre, Mapua takes on San Sebastian at noon and Jose Rizal University collides with Letran at 3 p.m.
