Controversial cager John Amores might have played his final NCAA game last week, after Jose Rizal University (JRU) officially removed him from the team.

JRU, in a statement, declared Amores is no longer part of the team, is suspended from his classes, and must render community service based on the rules in the school’s student manual.

The 23-year-old guard ran amok during the JRU-CSB game on 8 November, throwing punches at CSB’s Mark Sangco, Taine Davis, Jimboy Pasturan and Migs Oczon — prompting NCAA management to stop the game with three minutes and 22 seconds left in the fourth quarter, CSB ahead, 71-51.

“Mr. Amores will also be provided counseling to help cope with the strain of what has taken place in his young life,” the statement read.

Prior to the incident, Amores has also figured in a brawl during a preseason game against University of the Philippines in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League where he was slapped with an indefinite ban.
