The last spot in the quarterfinal round will have to be decided on Sunday.

Meantime, Magnolia secured the No. 2 seat in the playoffs and a twice-to-beat advantage in the next round with a come-from-behind victory over Rain or Shine, 106-90, in the Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup on 2 December at the Philsports Arena.

By winning their 10th game in 12 matches, the Timplados Hotshots denied Barangay Ginebra’s twice-to-beat aspirations and secured a playoff bonus against Phoenix Super LPG in the quarterfinal round.

But the Hotshots’ victory also dragged the Elasto Painters to a knockout match with NLEX for the eighth and last seed of the quarterfinal round on 4 December at 6:30 p.m. also at the Philsports Arena.

The scores:

MAGNOLIA 106 – Rakocevic 21, Lee 16, Sangalang 16, Abueva 12, Barroca 12, Dela Rosa 9, Jalalon 6, Ahanmisi 6, Mendoza 5, Wong 3, Reavis 0, Corpuz 0, Dionisio 0

RAIN OR SHINE 90 – Santillan 15, Nambatac 15, Pearson 14, Mamuyac 9, Torres 8, Ponferrada 6, Caracut 6, Nieto 6, Asistio 5, Norwood 4, Demusis 2

QUARTERS: 24-28, 44-52, 71-77, 106-90
