The Philippine men’s softball team has been offered to train with the Argentina softball team after their stint in the recent showing in the WBSC Softball World Cup at Rosedale Park in Auckland.
During the weekly Philippine Sportswriters Association forum at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex yesterday, Blu Boys coach Ray Pagkalawigan said the Argentines were impressed with the Filipinos.
The Blu Boys placed 10th in the final rankings of the World Cup with a 2-6 win-loss record in the 12-team tournament and lost 0-8 to the No.1 Argentinians in the group stage.
“Before we left, we met with two coaches from Argentina. They told us the Philippine team is welcome to train with Argentina,” Pagkalawigan said in the weekly sports forum presented by San Miguel Corporation, MILO Philippines, Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Olympic Committee, and the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation.
“We only need to pay for our airplane face and they will provide us with food and lodging.”
Argentina is the gold standard in men’s softball despite getting dethroned by eventual champion Australia in the World Cup semifinal.
The South American nation remains the No. 1 country in men’s softball.
