GOYANG, South Korea — DK Yoo had a startling realization Sunday when he went six rounds with Filipino legend Manny Pacquiao at the KINTEX.
“I am not a boxer. I am a martial artist,” Yoo told Daily Tribune after absorbing a six-round unanimous decision in their exhibition match.
Yoo suffered a knockdown and was totally outclassed and outgunned by Pacquiao, who was making his first ring appearance in 16 months.
Yoo admitted he got hit hard in the 12-minute showdown.
“He was very strong,” Yoo said.
Not only were Pacquiao’s punches paralyzing, Yoo said he got “very tired.”
In fact, after two rounds with Pacquiao, Yoo was already breathing heavily and it was unfortunate that the Korean referee still allowed the fight to continue.
Yoo outweighed Pacquiao by over 12 pounds.
But the massive weight difference hardly made a dent in Pacquiao’s trouble-free victory over Yoo, whose claim to fame was that he excels in six martial arts disciplines.
As early as the first round, Pacquiao reminded Yoo that he was terribly out of place when he took a crippling 1-2 punch to the body that sent him backpedaling as if he was trying to escape the jaws of an alligator.
It was clear Yoo didn’t like it.
